Recently, I visited two areas of
Orlando Florida that I didn’t know exist. The first place was a white house
called Timucua and the other was the Orlando Museum of Art.
When I arrived at the White house,
I was just amazed. Walking in surprised me because on the outside it looks like
a simple white house. However, on the inside you have a welcoming area with
cakes and wine available to guest. Walking in further is the stage and seating
area. This was like walking into another world. Bamboo wood floors and walls,
multiple floors with a spiral staircase, and walls and ceiling designed to
reduce bouncing of sound. After I too a seat on the second floor, I looked down
upon the grand piano as the young jazz artists played selected pieces of music.
This experience was great and I’m
glad I went. A great strength I see is the exclusivity of the White House. Not
that it’s was hard to find, but because of the people. Music lovers that want
the experience, as well as artists who can perform without being judged.
If I could name three things that
would fix Timucua White House, it would be the seats, more info on the calendar
about artist, and the food.
The seats were mentioned, because
they were really close to one other. I understand fitting as many people as
they can, but it was weird when sitting next to someone I didn’t know. I would
make the chairs on the second and third floor more spaced out.
The information about the artist
because, the three men I seen perform were great but I can’t remember there
name. This is something I would love to have, so I can tell others about them.
The food, I had an issue with the
preparation of some of the food that was served. They served muscles out of a
plastic container. Some might not look at this as something to complain about,
but that’s a very sensitive type of sea food. They were over cooked and not kept
hot, which makes them easily susceptible to bacteria, resulting in food poison.
A solution would be to hire me to cook. I love to cook, and I know how to cook
in a professional setting with over 6 years of experience .
The other venue I attended was the
Orlando museum of Art. It wasn’t as surprising as the White House but I always
welcome art. The exhibit hasn’t really change since my last visit in early
January, except for once section from Maya Lin.
The exhibit displayed eye deceiving
patterns, as well as awesome perspective view on 3d art.
Three things I would improve is the
placement of art, customer service, and the children’s art area.
The placement of art because there
really isn’t a sections for new art, it’s just randomly place between the old
exhibits. I would have a section set aside just for new exhibits and still
maintain the path to the older ones.
The customer service was bad. While
I was there, at least three people including myself needed assistance and no
one was eager to help. Instead of the employees they have, the museum needs to
hire people who are good in customer service and love art. This would consist
of a more delicate interview process.
The children’s area is literally on
another side of the museum. This feels wrong to separate the children art from
everyone else. Weather it’s not good enough or they don’t have room. Connecting
the gallery can improve traffic when looking at younger artwork. This wouldn’t
cost a lot considering a little construction or just moving the art around.
